Island Info

General

Maya BayKoh Phi Phi islands are located south-east of Phuket island in the Andaman Sea. Had Nopparat (Nopparat beach) lies on the land 18 km north-west of Krabi town. The park covers 390 square kilometres of land and sea areas.

The coastal part comprises of steep limestone mountains with low shrubs thriving in cracks. Evergreen forest covers more than 40% of the land area. Limestone mountains with exposed ground surfaces do not match the nature of forest, and thus forests here are not fertile. Mangrove forests, coconut groves and bamboos are found in the park.

Basically the weather is hot and humid. South-west monsoon comes in May to October. It brings storms and heavy rains. The best time to visit is during January to April.
